Our journey.
Hello, I'm Laura Lule, the founder of MexiMexi.
My story begins in Mexico, the country where I was born and lived for many years; it's where I met my husband, got married, and had my two daughters. It was also in Mexico where I learned to appreciate the warmth and value of handmade things, from food to crafts, sewing, and artistry.
My childhood was filled with vibrant colors as I grew up near magical towns, with colonial doors and windows, cobblestone streets, and unique gardens.
I graduated in computer systems, but my first job led me to the field of marketing and advertising. It was there that I began to develop an interest in graphic design, photography, messaging, media management, and witnessed the emergence of e-commerce.
The combination of all these experiences gradually led me to feel a need to create something that could help, transcend, and build bridges to bring authenticity to other parts of the world.
Today, I reside in the vibrant and unique city of Austin, Texas, I spend most of my time designing, creating, and envisioning everything behind MexiMexi, as well as enjoying time with my daughters and husband, reading, and discovering new cafes in this beautiful city.
I'm delighted that you've landed here. I hope you find a bag that resonates with your heart. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with you.

Our team is made up of Susy, Mirna, Risa, Esperanza, and numerous Master Artisans.

We are profoundly passionate about our craft and steadfastly committed to delivering authentic, high-quality, and one-of-a-kind bags.
Handwoven by Master Artisans
Each of our MexiMexi bags is crafted by master artisans from Jalisco, who possess generations of knowledge and experience in weaving recycled plastic, creating truly unique pieces.
Creating a single bag can take anywhere from 6 hours to 1 week, as each one requires different weaving techniques depending on the pattern and number of colors selected.
Passion, patience, vision, and creativity are also essential ingredients in crafting something that is not only unique but also embodies the essence, authenticity, and originality that only a handmade bag can possess.
Additionally, wooden frames and recycled multicolored plastic are required for the process.
Finally, skill is needed to stretch the bag and ensure that there are no gaps or openings.
